Tuesday Trip!

Meow & Ciao 8,610 people who visit my Blog!
Today we wrote about what we did on Tuesday, you can read my writing to find out what it's about!

When we got to the main room, we were all excited. We saw some native birds through the window. We saw some Weka, Torea, Tuis & some Skinks in an enclosure. Rotoroa was beautiful alright They taught us about some traps & smells to attract pests or to identify them. We later got to pass around different animal skins that come from animals that endanger native animals or birds. Some were rough, & some were soft. Some people were grossed out but I was especially sad. There was a cat skin… but at least it was a domestic cat, not a pet cat.

After that, we split into our groups. Group A & B Scott class, & Group A & B Killeen Class. We went on a fun journey around the entire island while Killeen class stayed & did a GPS activity. We learned about a couple of plants, saw a pair of takahe, looked over the entire island from a hill, & much much more. Sadly, no Kiwi. After all, they are nocturnal.

A couple of hours later, we all went to a beach there called ladies bay & had our lunch. Mmmmm, scrummy! My chicken & avocado sandwich was the best! Soon after we went to do our GPS activity. First, we had to locate a piece of paper with our group, it had a pest or native footprint on it. Then return to the main room & try to identify the insect or animal on a tablet PDF. Soon after, we had to use the GPS to find a stuffed bird with a few tracking bands on it. When we reach the location, we use binoculars to spot the bird in the area. We then write down on a clipboard the colors of the bands, & return to the main room.

We then went to a cool museum sort of place & there were some cool recordings by some people that were talking about something (I actually didn’t know) & they were cool. There was also a 3D MAP on a table & a cool illusion in-graved into the floor. After, we put our stuff & got ready to go. We had a couple of pictures taken, then we had a drink. By that time, it was time to go home...

Working with Morris class. Joshua learns about Chromebooks! {Late, Publish didn't work}

Today Joshua & I were learning about Chromebooks! It was fun, here is a G.Drawing of what we did! Mark was with me as well, he was with Zion. I showed him how to use a online stop-watch as he requested & we looked through all the different types. Bomb timers, Sport timers, the traditional Stop-Watch, etc. After, we had a Kahoot for fun. Their first online questionnaire or quiz. We came 16th, out of their class. I could not help him, I could only hint towards the answer.
{But I can tell some just had the senior do it, I saw. }
}Here is the G.Drawing we collaborated on{

Toolkits Reflection {23/08/16}

Hi Guys,
Two Days ago we had Toolkits! It would be cool if you went to the Toolkits & you are reading this blog post! But, if you don't know what Toolkits are, they are when we have a couple of classes from a few schools & we teach them some tricks & tips & they taught us some tips & tricks. It was a very cool experience due to it was my first time with Toolkits. (P.S I was away last year)
I was a Techxpert, which helps with all the Technical difficultys & stuff, also with getting kids connected to the screen cast on our TV.
{Sorry there are no photos}
{I did not receive any of them if there were}

Andrew Nicholson Pays us a visit!

Today we had a very exciting visit from a Olympian called, Andrew Nicholson.
He is known (or a bit famous) for beating the world record for biking around the world & is a retired Olympian Speed Skater. On his bike around the world he rode 29000 km in 123 days, around about 4 months. He was a 3rd time Olympic Speed Skater, wasn't the best but was very good.
Now for the slide show of photos... =D
Andrew was talking about a speed skate ;-;

More Teaching, (He's a actual teacher reliever ya know)

He was showing us a way to practice balance in Speed skating

More Balancing ;-;

A little Quiz about the Olympics...

Dance {Session 2/4}

Hey People,
Today we had our second Dance session. We mostly did what we did last week, but we did do some new things. We danced to songs then when the music stops we have to get into groups of which Emily says, then we have to make the shape she says. Also, we played a game called Heart Beats, which we have to lay in a circle and cross hands to try to tap each one on the ground in order. *Sorry I was late to post so no pictures*

Philippines Country Study Presentation {Last Term}

Hello Guys, (And girls)
The reason I'm posting this & it's from last term is because I did not have enough time & I have too. Hope you get some half decent information!

{Dance Session 1 of 4}

Hey blog, just before I get on with my post, just to say that this is my first blog post of Term 3 2016; well back to the grind for me

Hi people
Today we had our first session of "Dance" with our coach called Emily.
We had to make our own dance, or choreography and perform it in front of the rest of our class. What our dances had to be based off were our first name's initials. We performed in groups of 3. It was very hard for me because the letter "N", is hard to replicate.
My group was Roman, George, & I. Here are Their blogs: George's and Roman's.
Here are a few photos...
(No photos of me)

Tenei te pepeha 2016

In Scott class we've been working on memorising our pepeha (mihi), so here is my pepeha that has pictures on each slide on what the part of the mihi is. (Some pictures are not people because I don't have pictures of some things.)

Describe a moment in time, Love your Coast trip to the beach Clean up

As time goes on, and We are picking up rubbish, I look around in the hot weather & I see the intense gleaming & shininess of the broken glass & water in the distance. I hear the faint crashing of the waves over the sea wall as if it’s talking. It’s so hot, I think it is similar to Samoan weather in the dry season, & that when I open my mouth I reckon I can taste the evaporating water. When I step on the sand, whilst It is all soft It feels like burning coals! But while all these things are going on I'm in deep thought ‘Do people really care about the ocean?’ While I stare at all the rubbish in the bags. Lighters, glass, plastic, rusted iron…

In Scott class we went to onehunga beach to pick up rubbish so that rubbish does not end up in our seafood dinner. & also to keep the population of fish up.

Facts About Stars!

Introduction
I will be writing a report of the different appearance, temperatures
and the life cycle of a star which is a hot ball of plasma.

The Life-Cycle of a Star
Gravitational forces pull a cloud of nebular together and the cloud spins into a disc shape. It spins for a few years as it gets faster and faster and faster until it forms a bright light in the middle, this is called a prototype star. As it continues to spin, suddenly a big bang with a blinding light occurs and there is a star. The life of a star is not very nice though, the gravitational forces that pulled it together will start to crush it, but the star burns helium (until it runs out that is) which creates the stage called the main sequence. The star burns helium to expand itself and fight against the gravity to equalise the pressure.

Types of Stars
The stars defy the laws of colour (just like fire). Red you would think is HOT, no it is the coolest type star, then there is yellow: medium, then green: hottish and last but not least blue the hottest. There are a few other complicated ones like E.g Yellow Gv2 Dwarf. Now the stages first type main sequence which is in the paragraph above, then giant super-giant which is when the have been around for a long time and has grown big, then dwarfs when the are running out of helium and are shrinking then finally a dead cold black ball.

Appearance
There is (listed in heat) Red, Yellow, Green and Blue stars. Here is a fact you probably wouldn't know: Did you know that stars do not twinkle? Stars appear as small dots in the sky that twinkle, but they only look as if they twinkle is that while the light travels through the layers of our atmosphere and there are small pockets of air that mess up the straight line of light so your eyes interpret this as twinkling.

Conclusion

So now we know what it is like being a star and the different stages and types. Here is a fun fact: There are over 500 billion stars which leaves over 100 billion and 200 billion galaxies, including our galaxy the Milky Way.
